Mahasarakham University Delegation Visits Universiti Malaya to Foster Public Health Collaboration

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, recently welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Public Health, Mahasarakham University, Thailand, for an academic visit aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening regional partnerships in public health.

The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sumattana Glangkarn, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, together with eight faculty members representing various disciplines, including public health, environmental health, occupational health and safety, nutrition and dietetics, and health technology.

Professor Dr. Victor Hoe, APACPH Secretary-General and Head of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, welcoming the visiting delegation.

The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Victor Hoe, Head of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH), alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Ahmad Shahrizal Tengku Dato’ Omar, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya.

During the visit, both institutions engaged in fruitful discussions and exchanged knowledge on areas of mutual interest, particularly community-based participatory research, rural health, public health education, and opportunities for future academic and research collaboration. The exchange provided an excellent platform to share experiences, best practices, and innovative approaches to addressing public health challenges within the Asia-Pacific region.
