Citation for Prof Dr Tri Martiana

My journey in Public Health began in 1986. As a new doctor and prospective lecturer of Universitas Airlangga, I was assigned to serve at a Public Health Centre in Mojosari District, East Java-Indonesia in 1986-1988. The Public Health Centre did not only allow me to gain knowledge and skill in performing medical services, but also community health empowerment, as well as conducting occupational health services in companies, since the service area also included an industrial area. These two years of working experiences help me to gather my interest in the field of occupational health and safety.

Occupational health and safety have always been my biggest concern with formal, informal industrial and hospitals workers as targeted groups. I worked on pulmonary function in cement factory workers for my master degree in 1990 and research on psychoneuroimmunological disorders in factory workers for my doctoral program 1999. I have worked in 27 researches resulting to 21 national and 36 international publications. In accordance to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, especially the health of women workers, we are now working on a grand research on women workers’ health in both formal and nonformal industrial sectors. We have been working it for 3 years, involving lecturers, students from undergraduate, master, and doctoral program. From this grand research, we have published the results to 9 Scopus indexed publications. The sub themes of this grand research are still ongoing and are expected to produce a prediction index for pregnancy disorders in female workers in the industrial sector.

Occupational safety and health department is particular subject in public health science. This discipline requires a multidisciplinary approach due to analysis the workers’ health, safety, and productivity.

We would like to express our high gratitude for the award received. This is a tribute to us and the academics of the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga .
