APACPH Delegation Visits Japan to Strengthen Regional Partnerships 

As part of APACPH’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration and expand its network across the Asia-Pacific region, APACPH President Prof. Hung-Yi Chiou and Vice President Finance Prof. Betty Ya-Wen Chiu visited the APACPH Japan Regional Office and met with key public health leaders in Japan on 18th June 2026.

The visit brought together representatives from the APACPH Japan Regional Office, including Prof. Masahiro Hashizume, Director of the APACPH Japan Regional Office, and Dr. Akira Shibanuma, Chair of the APACPH Election Committee. The meeting was hosted at the Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS) by Prof. Hiroyasu Iso, President of the Japanese Society of Public Health (JSPH) and Director of the Institute for Global Health Policy Research (iGHP) at JIHS. Public health experts and leaders from JSPH and JIHS, including Prof. Ai Noda, Prof. Takehiro Sugiyama, and Dr. Sumiyo Okawa, also participated in the discussions.

The discussions centered on opportunities to expand APACPH membership in Japan, including possible institutional membership by JSPH. Participants exchanged views on how APACPH can better support public health education, research, and professional networking within Japan while fostering stronger connections across the Asia-Pacific region.
