APACPH-Kuala Lumpur inaugural meeting

APACPH-Kuala Lumpur (APACPH-KL) was registered as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with the Malaysian Registrar of Society on the 17th September 2013. The setting-up of APACPH-KL was part of the decision made during the APACPH General Assembly in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2012. In the meeting the decision was to register APACPH as a local NGO in three countries; i.e. Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Malaysia. Of the three countries only Malaysia managed to register APACPH as a local NGO.

APACPH-KL Inaugural Meeting

The founding board members were:

  • President: Prof Dato’ Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin
  • Deputy President: Prof Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud
  • Honorary Treasurer: Assoc Prof Dr Aniza Ismail
  • Honorary Secretary: Assoc Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui
  • Technical committee Members:
    • Assoc Prof Dr Wong Yut Lin
    • Dr Tahir Aris
    • Assoc Prof Dr Victor Hoe Chee Wai

The inaugural meeting of APACPH Kuala Lumpur was held at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur on the 14 November 2013. The meeting was chaired by Prof Dato’ Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin the founding President of APACPH-KL, the Immediate Past-President of APACPH International and also the Vice-Chancellor of University of Malaya.

In the meeting, the new board members were elected:

  • President: Prof Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud
  • Deputy President: Dr Tahir Aris
  • Honorary Treasurer: Assoc Prof Dr Aniza Ismail
  • Honorary Secretary: Assoc Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui
  • Technical committee Members:
    • Assoc Prof Dr Wong Yut Lin (Research)
    • Assoc Prof Dr Victor Hoe Chee Wai (Webmaster and publicity)
    • Assoc Prof Dr Ng Chui Wan (Networking)
    • Assoc Prof Dr Farizah Mohd Hairi (Education and Training)

The proposed activities for APACPH KL include,

  1. Promoting APACPH-KL in Malaysia among other institutions (public and private)
  2. Accreditation Workshop PH Symposium – co organize with the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in conjunction to SPM 50th Anniversary
  3. Co-organize with APACPH International on the Accreditation meeting due in Mac 2014.
  4. co-organize with SPM the 46th APACPH Conference 2014
